Two things that I noticed about the movie today were that, one, the senator was obviously uneducated about Vito Corleone because when he read out the name of who the check was addressed to he pronounced the boys middle name like v-eye-toe. Also, what was the old man blabbering about when he pointed to the band on his arm? the man next to him said "It wasn't a heart attack". I'm assuming they are talking about how Clemenzo died, but I wasn't too sure.
Yeah I was also confused about Clemenzo's death. I kindof felt bad for Michael in the movie today because like we were talking about in class, he is obviously a control freak and nothing was really going his way. It was also irritating how no one really seemed to respect Michael in the part we watched today. I also loved how it showed Vito Corleone as a child and how he was experienced to death and murder at such a young age. I think that seeing his mom and dad and brother all die within a week really shaped his character as a man.
ReplyDeleteResponding to Rachel here: yes, they were talking about Clemenza's death. Fredo thought it was a heart attach when it must have been a hit by the Rosato brothers. That just shows how out of touch Fredo is from what's really going on. Could it be that the Senator intentionally mispronounced Michael's name to show disrespect. Notice in the private meeting, he knew exactly how to pronounce it. For Carter: I bet you'll really like all of the flashbacks to the young Vito's life!
ReplyDeleteI agree, i love the flashbacks to Vito's life because even though he's not there in the present, it's cool to see what his childhood was like and how it affected who he became. My favorite part of the movie today was the part when Connie was with her fiancé talking to Michael. It was funny that Michael was talking to Connie about the guy right in front of him because it reminded me of something my brothers would probably do. The way he was protecting his sister showed a lot of love even though in the moment, she's probably thinking about how much she wants to kill Michael. Having protective brothers, I definitely know how it feels being in Connie's position so it added a little funny scene to the movie. At the same time it showed how he wants the best for his sister and will do anything to help her, even if it is talking bad about her fiancé to his face, which I thought was sweet.
ReplyDeleteWhen Vito's mom died, that was so sad....I am honestly suprised he was able to run away he had only a five foot head start maximum.
ReplyDeleteConnie seirously annoys me....she definitely annoyed me in the part I as well, but the fact that she has another annoying soontobe husband just made me angry. I agree with Eva though, I liked when Michael was just bashing him when he was sitting right there.
