Not sure you can be evil and good at the same time. I think you can have bits of each inside you, but there is no way Satan is good, he is entirely evil; likewise, there is no way God can be evil, he is entirely good. I don't think there is much of a gray area when it comes to BEING good or evil. It's a little like saying someone is a boy and a girl.... You can have boy-ish qualities while you're a girl and girl-ish qualities while you're a boy. But you just can't be both...(unless you're a hermaphrodite, and that's a whole different converstaion).
We are definitely going to encounter this issue in Heart of Darkness and in some of our stories next semester in Southern Literature. Yes, we are going to continue to discuss the nature of Evil all year! Are Good and Evil to forces that exist with equal potential in all people. One, most people try to suppress, while the other tries to get equal time, often while trying to appear to be that which it is not: Evil tries to sell itself as Good. Could the higher potential for Good in a person equate to just as high a capability for Evil? And the other way around?
Does good and evil, at least in PL, depend on obedience or disobedience to God?
