"Anonymous" is actually based off a real belief that William Shakespeare was just a pseudonym used by one or many authors during the Elizabethan period in England who either wanted to or had to hide their true identities. While most people pass over this thought as an impossibility, there are still a few Shakesperian scholars that believe this. They claim that based on Shakespeare's apparent poor background, as his possible illiteracy as a child, as well as the small amount of documentation that we have on his life cannot possibly have produced a man with such profound language skills that could be able to write all of the works that Shakespeare did. Maybe we can take a field trip to go see the movie?
