I hate to say it but after reading the his first speech I'm starting to like Satan. He doesn't seem to base his logic on reason but he definitely has guts. To sum up what he said as I would have said it: "He beat us, so what? I don't care what he does I refuse to bow to him. I'd rather be here than go crawling back to Him." Its not the smartest thing to say, but he certainly does make an impression.
You have lots of company who share your first impressions.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I think Satan has a lot of spunk. He is very confident in himself even though he probably shouldn't be. I think people like to root for Satan because he's like the underdog in this situation, and people always like to see the underdog come out on top...even though it is...Satan.
ReplyDeleteI personally think its absolute stupidity, I mean, Satan is trying to wage war with a source of infinite power. According to our discussion in class, God didn't even let loose Heaven's army on him and he essentially threw himself into Hell. Yeah I suppose Satan's the underdog, but even an underdog should know that there are some battles that can't be won. Satan's either incredibly stupid, or he enjoys getting beat down
ReplyDeleteI think that Satan is not really trying or expecting to win the war against God. His goal is to become as well-known as God which hints that he was commonly overlooked before (which makes sense because he was second-in-command before falling from Heaven, a job akin to the Vice President which is a position which no one pays attention to and no one remembers the occupant years down the road). Satan does not care about the outcome of the war as long as it brings him fame.
